AN EXHIBITION OF
NON-OBJECTIVE ART IN ALL MEDIA

October 22 - December 12, 2006

Opening Reception
Sunday, October 22nd
4:00 – 6:00 p.m.

LECTURE:  “Approaching Abstraction”
Sunday, November 12th, at 3:00pm

Join Geoffrey Grogan for an engaging look at abstract art.  Trace its trajectory from Impressionism through Abstract Expressionism and look at its place in the art world today.  For those who love abstraction and those who think they can’t, gain new appreciation of its roots and consider its future.

Geoffrey Grogan is an artist and an Associate Professor of Art and Art History at Adelphi University, Garden City, NY.  Reservations and $5 contribution suggested.

Artist Panel
Tuesday, November 28, at 6:00pm

Dr. Diana Mille, Director of the Walsh Art Gallery at the Quick Center for the Arts (Fairfield University) will moderate a panel of artists in the "ABSTRACTION" exhibition as they discuss their approaches to their work, what and who influences them, opinions about the state of contemporary art and how abstraction allows them to express their creative vision - and any other direction the conversation flows.

WORKSHOP:  “Off the Wall!”
Sunday, December 3rd, 3:00-5:00pm

For kids of all ages.  Paint like Pollock – or Frankenthaler – or yourself – and take home an abstract
canvas floor cloth (or a painting, depending on how you look at it…)

Workshop led by Sharon Cowley, Carriage Barn Children’s Art Programs Director. Space is limited, please call to reserve a spot.  FREE.

Sponsored by The New Canaan Society for the Arts, a not-for-profit organization that
